Rachael has been teaching for 26 years - including the last 20 years as the director of First Step. Her qualifications include:-
* Associate Diploma in Dance Instruction and Management * Certificiate 3 in Commercial Dance and Musical Theatre (Bartuccio graduate) * Associate Diploma of AICD, MSFD and ACDEB.
Rachael has danced and modelled professionally including appearances in Music Video clips, fashion parades and TV commercials. Rachael has worked as a professional choreographer for a number of up and coming singers and was commissioned by "SFD" to choreograph a funk syllabus in 2001, which was taught in dance schools throughout Victoria, NSW and Queensland. Rachael choreographed and directed well-known hip hop crews "NV-US", "Baby Bling" and "XLR8" for many years including leading them to state and national titles. Rachael teaches the advanced & elite jazz and hip hop classes on Monday's.
Miss Tilly Myers
Tilly was a student at First Step for 14 years before spending three years studying dance full-time - graduating "PSA" in 2007 and completing her Diploma in Dance in 2009 at "Dance Factory" on full scholarship. Tilly has been teaching for 9 years including 7 years with First Step and she is also a qualified teacher for 'DFTA'. During her years at First Step Tilly won many scholarships and competitions including the 'Kristy Gambera Scholarship' and the SFD Junior Classical Scholarship. Her professional work includes many childrens shows, corporate work and the 'Countdown Spectacular'. Tilly teaches Tuesday's, Thursdays and Saturday afternoons - she teaches all styles of dance.
Miss Jessica Derkacs
We welcome Miss Jess D to the teaching faculty in 2013. Jessica has been a student at First Step for the past 10 years and has been in our teacher training programme for four years. She has won the Senior Scholarship and gained a honours for her Intermediate ballet exam last year. Jessica was a part of the hugely successful hip hop crews "Baby Bling" and "XLR8" in her younger years. Miss Jess D will be teaching classes on Wednesday evenings.
